A 25-acre brush fire was threatening some homes Friday in Ventura County west of Chatsworth, and Los Angeles city and county crews were assisting Ventura firefighters in the firefight.

The fire was reported about noon near the 200 block of West Box Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
``
“This fire is in the Santa Susana Mutual Threat Zone and all three agencies are currently working together,’' the LAFD reported.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the ``Shirley Fire’’ was burning between Simi Valley and Chatsworth.

``"Winds are light but still helping the fire spread,’' the Ventura County Fire Department initially reported, but by 2:15 p.m., crews had stopped the fire’s spread and mitigated the threat to structures.

Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopters were conducting water drops in the area.

"``The fire is in mixed rocky, steep terrain, which makes ground access challenging,’' according to an LAFD update issued about 1:30 p.m. “However, firefighters are making good progress and the helicopters are hitting it hard from the sky. This incident is 100% in the County of Ventura, but due to the mutual threat ... it is a unified command with Ventura County Fire, Los Angeles County Fire, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority and LAFD.’'

No injuries had been reported, and no structures had been damaged, the LAFD reported.
